I bought the new BC 2x7" from a store in Chicago and it's clear. I'm not complaining or anything, but is there a reason why it's not yellow as advertised on the blog?

One specific manufacturer pressed a limited number of 200 clear vinyl. Collectors item!

Expensive Looks - Dark Matters (LP & CD)

image

“

Alec Feld grew up in New York on a steady diet of Chicago house, disco, old Motown stuff and a smattering of his parents’ psych records, as well as “trashy ’90s dance.” Dark Matters is his debut LP as Expensive Looks. It flows continuously across nine tracks, touching on elements of all the music he grew up on: hypnotic house, textured minimalism, and the gorgeous moment of musical epiphany that happens when a beat drops out and all that’s left is the aural equivalent of taking a deep breath and staring at the stars. It’s a dance record with the sort of scrappy, open heart that can only come from someone like Feld. Expensive Looks is all encompassing, it draws from all genres without border, pulling everything into one warped but pointed mass. Dark Matters is available on CD and 500 red vinyl LPs. Shipping included in all prices.

Best Coast - Make You Mine double 7" colored vinyl with gatefold sleeve

image

It seems insane now, but when we started Group Tightener with Best Coast’s “Make You Mine” 7-inch we never anticipated her becoming the mega pop star she is today. Needless to say, we’re stoked. It couldn’t have happened to a better or more talented person. The only bummer is that we sold out of the records almost instantly, and it’s been unavailable since. We’re now bringing it back as a limited extra fancy double 7-inch gatefold edition on yellow vinyl at 45rpm. This is the last time this record will be available from us, so now would be a good time to get it! This pressing is limited to 2,000 records. Design and photography by Drew Heffron. Records will ship the week of November 15th. Shipping included in all prices.

Also, still available on iTunes and other digital shops.

R. Cole Furlow makes beautifully angsty music as Dead Gaze. His songs are bursting with warped emotion, fucked up vocals and thick riffs with a beating pop heart. We’re stoked to present five gems on our first ever 10-inch, each one will make you feel good about feeling bad. This pressing is limited to 500 records on translucent orange vinyl. Shipping included in all prices.

1. This Big World

3. We All Belong To You
4. There’s A Time To Be Stupid
5. Glory Days For Sure

Expensive Looks - Vanishers 7" + Twerps - She Didn't Know 7"

image

Expensive Looks - Vanishers 7” - GT07

We are proud to present the first ever physical release from Expensive Looks. The introductory 7-inch features two songs, with the B-side exclusive to this release. “Vanishers” is a hazy, slow-build of electronic loops and Alec Feld’s passionate croon, diping through the echoey peaks and valleys of a teen searcher’s bedroom wail. “Simon” gets a bit more sinister with off kilter samples mixing a criss cross of varient vocal attacks. The record is just a taste of the textured dance-oriented full length that will see its release on Group Tightener this summer.
Limited to 500.

Shipping included in all prices.

1. Vanishers
2. Simon

Twerps - She Didn’t Know 7” - GT10

After releases with both Night People and Chapter Music, Australia’s Twerps bring their dark dream-pop to Brooklyn label Group Tightener. This three song 7-inch works as a companion piece (same art split into two) to their recently released 7-inch on Under Water Peoples. “She Didn’t Know,” begins with a roar of vocals and steadily swings through delicate guitar riffs, rollicking organ jams, and playful puppy dog yelps. The first few moments of the second track, “Anything New,” are a gentle lullaby until the vocals crash in with classic the suburban conundrum of being bored but dreading change. It’s full of delightful wallowing in the desire of an impossible paradox: “I’m gonna be more than a backyard boy” but I also don’t want anything new to happen in my life. The B-side wraps up the record with a devastatingly saccharine winding ballad called “Peculia.”
Limited to 500.

Shipping included in all prices.

1. She Didn’t Know
2. Anything New
3. Peculiar

Fungi Girls - Owsley Knows / Glare #2 7” - GT06

Fungi Girls are three high school kids from Texas. They’ve released records on Hozac, Play Pinball and Psychic Lunch.
